Saudi Arabia towards a quantum leap in energy sources

Towards a bright future….Saudi Arabia is towards a quantum leap in energy sources…
In promising statistics, and a witness to the intellectual and economic development achieved by the Saudi citizen. That intellectual flexibility and the tendency towards adapting all the available possibilities to achieve a safe, balanced, healthy, advanced life at a reasonable economic cost.
Of course, the energy sector was not isolated from that. The electricity sector, in particular, has witnessed a qualitative shift in the quality of energy used to generate electricity in Saudi homes. Not only that, but new intellectual trends have emerged to the surface with regard to electricity consumption, rationalization, and diversification of its sources.
This was mentioned by Al-Riyadh newspaper in its issue issued on Tuesday morning, on the 28th of Rabi` al-Awwal of the year 1440.
Corresponding to December 4, 2018. The results of the energy survey for the year 2018 showed a tangible difference in the behavior of the Saudi citizen in terms of electric energy consumption. The results were as follows:
1-99.85% of households use electricity in their homes, while 0.04% use a private generator as a source of electricity, while the percentage of diesel users in the domestic sector is about 0.49%, the percentage of kerosene users in the domestic sector is about 1.78%, and the percentage of gas users in the domestic sector is about 93.27 %. Which
Heralding the qualitative shift that we have previously referred to is the following item from the search results:
2- About 1.45% of households in all regions of the Kingdom use solar energy in their homes.
While the percentage of households wishing to use solar energy in homes reached 48.01%.
The number of households that do not wish to use solar energy in homes reached 26.68%.
3- The total consumption of the domestic sector of petroleum products (diesel – kerosene – gas) in all regions of the Kingdom amounted to more than one billion liters in 2018.
Regarding use in cooking, it was found that 90.27% of households use gas as the main fuel for cooking, while 8.74% of households use electricity, and 0.34% use firewood.
4- As for the behavior and patterns of households in rationalizing the consumption of electric energy, the results showed the following:
59.84% of households are interested in reducing and rationalizing the consumption of electric energy
35.75% of families are “somewhat interested.”
4.41% of families are “not interested” in rationalizing consumption at all.
5- The percentage of households that use electrical energy saving devices in homes is 29.35%.
Whereas, 70.65% of households do not use any devices that save electrical energy in their homes
6- The percentage of dwellings in the Kingdom that use an independent electric meter is 84.33%, while the percentage of dwellings that share an electricity meter is 15.67%.
As for the share of electricity in the total expenditure of the Saudi citizen, the results are as follows:

7- Consumption rates vary according to circumstances. We find that 35.14% of households in the Kingdom spend less than 5% of their income on electricity expenses and other fuel sources.
43.08%- of families spend between (5-10%) of their income on electricity and other fuel expenses.
While 15.76% of households spend between (11-15%) on electricity expenses and other fuel sources.
-4.01% of households spend (16-20%) on electricity expenses and other fuel sources
Finally, 2.00% of households spend more than 20% of their income on electricity expenses and other fuel sources.

The Saudis and the intellectual shift….Do these results pave the way for a healthier homeland…and less economic conditions that are characterized by the trend towards smart solutions?!
The results of the survey come at the end to confirm the above and we referred to it at the beginning of this article. Where:
The statistic confirmed that-

  • 57.57% of households in the Kingdom strongly believe that energy rationalization measures will reduce financial costs, while 38.15% of households believe that rationalization measures will somewhat reduce financial costs.
  • While 4.28% of families reported that rationalization measures will not contribute to reducing financial costs to the desired extent.
The statistics also showed that 44.19% of families in the Kingdom are willing to spend some money to use energy saving devices
And 40.24% of families are not sure about that
While 15.57% of households do not want to spend some money to use energy saving devices.

 Finally. The results of the survey showed that the percentage of houses in the Kingdom that have thermal insulation amounted to 19.97%.
 While the houses that do not have thermal insulation amounted to 61.35%.
 The results of the survey also showed that 18.68% were not aware of the existence of thermal insulation in the dwelling

Regardless of all the above-mentioned economic facts… the choice of solar energy does not only appear to be a smart choice with regard to the economic cost.. but rather the clear truth appears… in that it is the ideal choice with regard to health… towards healthier homes…
May Allah protect you and your families. And enjoy your health and complete wellness.
